State level Consultation Meeting – West Bengal

A State Level Youth Consultation Meeting was held on 5th February at ICMARD, Kolkata. The  event was attended by the Chairperson of West Bengal Commission For Protection of Child Rights Ms. Tulika Das -who shared insights on this year's focus theme, "Environment." She highlighted how environmental issues and child rights are closely interconnected, also  she gifted a calendar aligned with the theme of environmental rights.

Mr. Nadim from the District Child Protection Unit emphasized the vital link between child protection and environmental issues, with a special focus on health and nutrition. Additionally, representatives from the State Urban Development Agency discussed their initiatives on waste segregation and proper disposal, underscoring their role in protecting both the environment and children's rights.

These esteemed guests added tremendous value to the event, making it more impactful and giving it a strong sense of direction. Their contributions truly made the event a highlight, leaving a lasting impression on all the youth participants. They also welcomed the involvement of youth, expressing openness to their suggestions, inputs, and future collaborations in the ongoing effort to promote clean and healthy environmental rights of children and young people.

It was a powerful showcase of expertise and the voices of young leaders, sharing their ground-level experiences throughout the event. The messages were loud and clear—our youth are on the move, and we are determined to make a difference.

This event marks a remarkable achievement—two and a half years of continuous action, reflection, and progress on environmental and climate change issues. It’s inspiring to see how far we’ve come, and we’re only just getting started
