Climate Literacy Sessions for Youth in Titagarh and Santoshpur

Climate Literacy Sessions were conducted in Titagarh and Santoshpur with the participation of 25 and 23 youths respectively. The sessions began with interactive self-introduction activities where participants connected themselves with different environmental elements such as trees, birds, rivers, and islands, helping them reflect on their relationship with nature and the environment.

Through visual activities, group discussions, and community-based exercises, the youths explored issues related to climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental disruption, and the impact of heatwaves, cyclones, floods, and water scarcity on different sections of society. Participants shared concerns about increasing environmental degradation and discussed how climate-related challenges affect vulnerable communities, including construction workers, elderly women, and people living in slum areas.

The sessions also included community mapping and observation tasks, where participants identified hotter areas, waste dumping zones, waterlogging points, and places with fewer trees in their localities. Based on these observations, the youth groups initiated problem tree analyses and began developing action plans, including small collective actions they can take as youth groups and key demands to be raised with stakeholders for environmental improvement and climate resilience.
