Clean Mohalla, Green Mohalla

On 13th March 2026, a “Clean Mohalla, Green Mohalla” community interaction programme was organised in collaboration with Barrackpore Municipality, with the participation of more than 100 community members along with representatives from the Conservancy Department.

The programme created an engaging platform for discussions on waste management and cleanliness within the community. Community members actively raised several concerns related to sanitation and waste disposal, to which the Conservancy Department Supervisor responded by sharing possible solutions and measures to address the issues effectively.

A helpline number for waste-related concerns was also shared by the supervisor, enabling residents to directly report urgent complaints and queries.

At the end of the programme, based on the community’s needs and at the request of the municipality, two waste segregation bins (green and blue) were distributed to households that had been consistently segregating their waste for the past year. This practice had been regularly monitored and documented by local youths and the Ward Councillor.

The initiative recognised and appreciated the efforts of responsible households while encouraging other community members to adopt waste segregation practices at home under the “Clean Mohalla, Green Mohalla” campaign.
