One-day local youth exposure visit at the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Pakur Forest Division, Jharkhand.
On 4th April 2026, LGWCDC, Lok Kalyan Seva Kendra, and the District Forest Department jointly organized a one-day local youth exposure visit under the “Local to Global Project” at the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Pakur Forest Division, Pakur.
The main objective of this program was to make youth aware and sensitive towards important issues such as conservation of forest resources, prevention of human–wildlife conflict, forest fires, and illegal deforestation.
During the exposure visit, Forest Department officials, Wildlife Rescue Officer Ashraful Sheikh and Forest Officer Neelu Nikudimus Kisku, informed the youth that forest fires not only destroy wildlife habitats but also create serious threats to the climate. They emphasized the role of local communities in preventing illegal logging. Considering the increasing cases of human–wildlife conflict, the youth were also advised to conduct awareness campaigns in villages and support the creation of safe corridors for wildlife.
The participating youth visited the forest area and gained an understanding of local flora, fauna, and the ecosystem. They also discussed measures to control fire incidents in collaboration with the Forest Department team.
The youth also submitted a memorandum to the Forest Department.
At the end of the program, all participants took a collective pledge to protect forests from fires, illegal logging, and human–wildlife conflict.
